An homage to the Swiss surrealist, H.R. Giger. Always being fascinated by the artwork of Giger and the massive impact of his Biomechanical vision on the world of architecture, film, music, tattoo art, fashion and industrial design, Malgorzata Dudek, with H.R. Giger"s prior approval, transferred his cultural influence onto fabric. the collection includes a series of one-off couture pieces with adapted Giger prints. Some of the standout pieces are an elegant skin-tight gown with a Giger Li print and a hautingly beautiful black, skin-tight gown with 3-D baby heads from Giger"s Landscape XVIII adorning the back and train. Throughout the collection, there are also laser-cut leather elements which were inspired by the artists airbrushing. the collection was accessorized with metal sunglasses by designer Slav Nowosad which are inspired by Giger’s Birth Machine.
My desire with this collection is to honor to H.R. Giger, pay him tribute, and show how his influence resonates in the world of fashion. When I started sketching this collection and planning the fabrics, I couldn’t see it complete without elements of Giger’s artwork. And what better way for me, as a designer, to honor a man who’s Biomechanical vision has massively influenced architecture, film, music, tattoo art, fashion and industrial design. Last February, I sent sketches to him through his agent and to my surprise, I heard back almost immediately and was given creative freedom to incorporate a jointly agreed upon selection of Giger"s art! It’s such an honor to work with this artist because he’s so influential that I was aware of and appreciated his work, long before I knew his name.

In season Spring/summer 2016 Berlin-based fashion label Burkhardt/Möllmann presents itself clearly defined and minimalist as usual. Tight and straight patterns and the focus on a few, but particularly colourful elements catch the observer’s eye.
As sometimes denoted in former collections, the basic theme of B/M 121 is borrowed from a technical work environment. This time motives are modelled on the clothing worn by an aircraft carrier’s crew. Every crew member wears a certain uniform which exactly characterizes their tasks on board, since the uniforms can be clearly
distinguished by visual elements. Different integral colouring is combined with several graphic shapes and symbols. Consequently, every single combination from colour, shape and symbol is a code and expresses the person’s exact function.
This fascination for the semiotics of colours and design elements is now reflected in Burkhardt/Möllmann’s present fifth collection. the luminous colours orange and blackberry are mainly used in geometric details on straps, belts, zippers, buttons, collars, cuffs and laces. At the same time, the colours form a contrast to the neutral parts in anthracite, black and white. the lucid details and the colour-neutral parts are united in their distinctive graphic stringency and seeming functionality.

IN TOWN, LOOKING LIKE YOU’RE ON VACATION EVA&BERNARD S/S 2012
In their new Spring/summer 2016 collection Berlin based fashion label Eva & Bernard meant to focus on the ›easy‹ side of ›Easy Tailoring‹, their coined motto; to employ a less severe approach in the design process and to choose cheerful, lighthearted colors. the styles were designed to express cool effortlessness and show generous volume. the designers have been looking at images of old rural Spanish houses and architecture, and their modern renditions in places like Santa Monica in LA. the arch shape employed in them and the beautiful pastel colors of pink, light blue and ecru attracted Eva’s and Bernard’s attention, and they wanted to translate all these moods into the new collection for S/S 2012.
Silk plays a lead role in the collection, which offers as well a great variety of fine cotton, viscose, jersey, cupro, linen, ramie and knitted cashmere. All fabrics were sourced in Switzerland and Italy, where the collection is produced. the blue color, which was missing from previous collections, is at the core of the new one, with texture and tone variations. Around the blue the designers gathered up such colors as peach, pink, orange, bronze, grey black and white. This season the brand offers leather accessories for the first time!
